Are You Ready to Transform Your Course Into a Community? Here’s How!
In one of our recent posts, we talked about how it can often be a challenge to create a real sense of community within an e-learning environment.
After all, staring at your laptop screen isn’t the same as sitting in a classroom so we need to get creative when making an attempt to keep our online course participants engaged, motivated, and stimulated.
Well, as we announced in the post mentioned above we’ve been working with a third-party development firm to create some close ties between WP Courseware courses and the powerful social features of the amazing (and free) BuddyPress plugin.
And we think you AND your students are going to love it!

Hi. I am very interested in integrating BuddyPress with my WPCourseware site. However, I am also using your WPC/Wishlist add-on. All of my research leads me to believe that Wishlist and BuddyPress do not integrate together well as members can register and be handled by one but not both WLM and BP. WishlistMember support won’t provide any guidance at all on this issue and simply say they don’t support BP. Do you have any insight as whether the WPCourseware/WLMember add-on will work with your integration strategy shown in this video? Thanks.
Hi there,
We’ve not had any specific experience with WishList and BuddyPress, however, it appears that MemberPress and Paid Memberships Pro may have BuddyPress integration, and WP Courseware has integration with both MemberPress and Paid Memberships Pro.
Hey Ben,
good to know.
A question…Do you integrate Ithemes Exchange Membership and Buddypress?ITEM and BP integrate each other as this link explains :
https://ithemes.com/purchase/buddypress-add-on-ithemes-exchange/
Hi there,
WP Courseware does have integration with iThemes Exchange Membership found here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/exchange-membership-addon-for-wp-courseware/
Excellent coverage – sounds a very useful integration. Thanks for the clear outline of its capabilities!
Thanks, John! Glad you found the video helpful.
Hi Nate,
I see that course enrollees are auto-enrolled into the group, is there a possibility to switch that off…the reason I ask is around my method of managing students on to paid courses. I have everyone auto enrolled to all courses but they can only access the course when they pay for it, gated by a membership plugin (woocommerce and woocommerce membership), so having everyone auto enrolled to the group is an issue in this method, as they will see this in their BuddyPress members area before they purchase the course..
If I switch of auto enroll to all courses off, then I have to manually add them to the course when they pay, which might work but be labour intensive (assuming I sell loads of courses – I hope 🙂 so one way or the other I have to switch one of the auto enrolls off and take a hit, so I figure at least getting them into the course automatically is the best option and then manually adding them to the group or getting them a group request link on a follow-up email, would be the best method, unless there is a better way to manage this.
I hope that makes sense…
cheers,
Iain
Hey there seems to be no more place to get the integration?
Or do you have a specific place to get it from?
Hi Peter, you can find our integrations either
here or here.
