E-Learning Tech Tool Series: DesignJot
It’s been a while since we’ve conducted an app review for our E-Learning Tech Tool Series, but we recently came across a very useful iOS app that we wanted to share with you today.
As some of you know, we’re huge proponents of proper planning before jumping into course creation. Taking the time to initially outline and organize your content in the most effective structure to help your students succeed is critical, and it will save you a lot of time down the road.
When planning our own courses in the past, we’ve typically used mind mapping (with MindMeister being our favorite in this category) and at times even outlining applications like OmniOutliner for the Mac and iOS devices.
The app we’ll be taking a look at today has been designed for the sole purpose of brainstorming and structuring learning content. It’s called DesignJot and it’s currently available for free in the Apple App Store. The program is based on asking a series of questions in the ANSWER format (audience, needs, strengths, weaknesses, expertise, and results) and it walks you through this exercise with a set of tabs.
By the time you finish with the steps in this app, you’ll have thoroughly thought through exactly what content you need to offer, how to deliver it, what you expect your students to achieve, and how they’re going to get there.
Let’s take a look at just how the app works…
